Following my initial involvement at the
Blues In Hell Festival 2012 I've been asked back (there's no
accounting for taste) for this year's festival. As before
I'll be Dee-Jaying in the Lobby Bar prior to the main live music
attractions. One of the main attractions is going to be
Rhythm & Blues soul songstress Sugar Pie DeSanto who on
checking out YouTube footage of a recent performance can still
belt it out.
Once again, I cant wait and will have just
enough time to recover from The Great British Rhythm & Blues
Festival, Colne as the Hell Festival takes place the weekend of
6th, 7th & 8th September 2013.
Following my Dee-Jaying
at "Jolly Jumper & Big Moe's" 20th anniversary bash in
Norway last Christmas I was booked for this prestigious event.
I was spinning those
45's in the lobby bar of the Rica Hell Hotel during the festival
6th - 8th September.
The line up was
fantastic with a host of solo artists playing mainly in the
acoustic venue and a batch of stellar US bands, including The
OriginalBlues Brothers Band (with of course Steve
Cropper), Tommy Castro & The Painkillers and
Johnny Hoy & The Bluefish to name but a few - all playing in
the magnificent "Magic Mirrors" Big Top - the live music all
took place in the grounds of Hell Railway Station.
With the headline act
being "The Original Blues Brothers Band" the organiser, Kjell
Inge Brovoll, managed to obtain a replica "Blues Brothers"
motor, which was prominent throughout the festival.
On the Thursday Kjell
arranged for Norwegian TV to film a programme to promote the
festival centred around the black & white ex-cop car with
"mock-up" Blues Brothers characters. Yes I was roped in and here
is the footage:
Hopefully I will have
done enough to be asked back next year.
